BAWCC's Newest Event: The Tenderloin Family Fair
A Day of Fun at Tenderloin Community School

The “Pocket Lady” offered prizes to children from inside her cloak.

BAWCC received donations of prizes from many generous companies and individuals throughout the Bay Area. Kids were given tickets for food and games and won prizes and new chapter and picture books.

This spring, BAWCC hosted the first Tenderloin Family Fair. It was held at the Tenderloin Community School, and is a new event for this community. The Family Fair offers a Day-of-Fun for hundreds of Tenderloin children and families. There are “carnival” games, craft activities, a bouncy-house, and lots of great food. This year, more than 300 children and parents came!

Crafts like beading
were a popular activity
with families.
Traditional target games
challenged older children.
The wheel spun, and
prizes were won!

The Family Fair is also a way to raise funding for many of the year-long programs for low-income children and families sponsored by BAWCC at the Tenderloin Family Center.

The proceeds from the event are used to support programs such as:

  • Library Books & Programs for low-income children at the school

  • The Homework Help Club and other After-School Clubs that are free for the students

  • Dental Services (at no cost) for the children

  • The School's Technology Program & Staffing

  • Parenting Programs and Classes

  • Other needed programs for Tenderloin Children & Families

Next Spring, help support BAWCC's
Tenderloin Family Fair by:
