Our Success in Numbers
Bay Area Women's and Children's Center has successfully initiated and led many major building projects since we opened in 1981. We have also established many life-changing programs for low-income families, children, and women in the past three decades. Here is some of what BAWCC has accomplished:
1 Tenderloin Recreation Center (1995)
3 new Playgrounds in the Tenderloin
1 Tenderloin Community School - 400 elementary students annually (1998)
1 Free Dental Clinic - 1,100 procedures this school year
2 new Playgrounds in the Civic Center
390 Tech Whizzes (up from 360) - 1 new Technology Program for 360 K-5th grade students
14 free After-School Clubs every week
280 Tenderloin youth have received scholarships to help with college
1-on-1 Literacy Tutoring
300 Green Thumbs - Learning Garden
200 Book worms per week – dedicated Library Classes
350 gifts every holiday season
100 families fed a week
200 women and families clothed a month
